Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• I, and I'm sure many others, would agree with Tom Llewellyn that road tax should be paid through the fuel price (Sound Off, CM 13-19 August).

This has been mentioned many times, but as yet no one has found a way to ensure that all vehicles will be insured and have a current MoT. With our present system, all vehicles must be insured and have an MoT certificate to obtain a tax disc.

Tom Llewellyn's proposal would ensure every road user pays for that use, but I suggest we would have an increase of uninsured and unroadworthy vehicles on our roads.
