Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mercedes-Benz is assessing a range of 4x4 light CVs for the UK, based on the G-Wagen offroader. The four models are a 2.85m long-wheelbase van; 2.4m SWB and LWB station wagon: LWB pickup, and 3.12mwheelbase chassis-cab. The vehicles are already available in Germany.

Instead of the three-litre inline-sixes used in the G-Wagen, power comes from either a fourcylinder 2.3-litre petrol engine or the 2.9-litre 71kW (95hp) five-cylinder IDI diesel engine fitted in the 310D van. Commerical versions of the Gwagen were dropped a few years ago when it was pushed up-market to compete with the Range Rover.

The new models would share the G-Wagen's Steyr 4x4 transmission which offers permanent four-wheel drive with lockable front, centre and rear differentials, operated by dash-mounted switches. The G-Wagen's 210mm ground clearance allows approach and departure angles of 37° and 32° respectively. Commercial versions are expected to have similar GVWs to the G-Wagen — 2,620kg for SWB models and 2,950kg for LWBs.
