• New figures showing a sharp rise in commercial vehicle imports confirm that the UK truck manufacturing industry is under continued siege from foreign competition.
For the second quarter of this year the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders says there was a 45% increase in the number of heavy trucks imported and this was combined with a 33% fall in exports from UK manufacturers during the same period.
