• Batley-based manufacturer Hallas Trailer Sales is expanding into tanker work after buying neighbouring Newby Tankers' designs and business.
At first HTS will only refurbish tankers, but next year it expects to expand into building general-purpose tankers. It acquired five tanker refurbishments from Newby Tankers, which rented part of its West Yorkshire premises before it went into voluntary liquidation last month (CM30 July-5 Aug).
HTS says most of its work will continue to be in the trailer market. Last year the two-yearold manufacturer turned out about 300 units including curtainsiders and tilts.
