Forgotten date
• The trial of Archbold Truck Sales & Service was adjourned after the chairman of Dewsbury magistrates forgot to attend. The company has denied recklessly making a false statement regarding a service provided, contrary to the Trade Descriptions Act, after invoicing a haulier for parts not fitted to a wagon (CM 6-12 August).
Weight penalty • An 18.2% gross overload cost West Wales haulier Anthony Evans £350 when he appeared before Llanelli magistrates. The driver, Gary Adams, was fined £50.
Richards revoked • South Wales Traffic Commissioner John Mervyn Pugh has revoked B & D Richards' licence because of continued maintenance problems. Pugh indicated he would not consider any fresh application for a licence from the Neathbased company for a year.
Warrant out
II Leigh magistrates issued a warrant for the arrest of Whitefield, Lancashire haulier Patrick Burns when he failed to appear to answer allegations of fraudulently using a vehicle excise licence, forging an excise licence, dishonestly handling a stolen excise licence and using a vehicle without an operator's licence.
