WIDESPREAD construction of road humps so as to slow traffic residential areas could divert scarce resources from improving road network, the Royal Automobile Club has warned.
Its public affairs director, Tc Lee, said: "There is still much be done to reduce accident ri! at black spots in very many pa of the country.
"In addition, an extra £180r year is needed to maintain ( local roads efficiently — recommended by the House Commons transport commit — quite apart from the immer mileage of new roads which still required to cope with tra growth in the years ahead," added.
He warned that there could a rapid growth in the numbei road humps, and said the R would monitor councils' rc maintenance performance ensure that potholes z repaired.
