Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW tandem-drive, two-axle bogie designed for tractive units running at 32 tons gross train weight has been added to the range of commercial vehicle axles made by Centrax Gears Ltd., of Newton Abbot. Devon. The bogie is based on the American Rockwell Standard design with modifications to suit British requirements and will be available to the vehicle manufacturers.

The bogie combines a standard CV-220 at the rear with a CVTD-220 incorporating a 'through-drive centre and inter-axle differential at the front. The inter-axle differential can be " locked out to give improved traction in difficult conditions. Normal load capacity of the bogie is 38.000 lb. (16-96 tons) and it is said that versions suitable for twoor four-spring suspension will be available.

Both axles have single-reduction hypoid-bevel drive and ratios of 4-444. 4-625. 5.286. 5-83. 6-167, 6-83, 7.2, 7-4. 7.8 and 8-6 to I are available. Girling FCSS brake units with air-pressure actuation are standard but other makes and types can be supplied. Standard brake sizes are 15+ in. diameter by 7 in.
