• Automatic gearbox specialist Allison Transmission is investing £175m in a new family of light/medium-duly automatic gearboxes. The 1000/2000-Series boxes will have full electronic control; they're due to be launched before the end of the decade, spanning the 3.5-13.6-tonne GVVV range. The new family is based on Allison's established World Transmission (WT) series.
