'A HEAT SHIELD between the brake drums and tyres of rearengined buses has been designed by British Leyland engineers. The shield is said to overcome problems met by some urban bus operators of heat transfer from the drums to the tyres. The bodies have an aluminium frame and side panels with a one-piece grp roof and one-piece plywood floor and they are fitted with a roller-shutter door.

Depending on chassis specification payload capacity is around 980kg (19.3cwt) and interior boxvan body dimensions are 2.6m (8ft 5in) long by 1.8m (5ft 1 lin) wide by 2m (7ft lin) high. The Luton measures 1.1m (ft 7in) long by 0.8m (2ft 6in) high.
