Buckley, recently appointed a member of the executive board of the National Bus Company with effect from October 1. becomes managing director of London Country Bus Services Ltd. from the same date. London Country Bus Services is the company which has been formed to take over the operation of services at present operated by London Transport outside the Greater London County area when the major part of the undertaking is transferred to the control of the GLC. It will inherit a fleet of about 1,200 buses and coaches operating stage services outside London, together with the present LTB Green Line coach services. P. H. Wyke Smith has been appointed general manager of Crosvilie Motor Services Ltd. in succession to Mr. Buckley. Mr. Wyke Smith is at present general manager of Potteries Motor Traction Co. William Howard Stabbings, 48. becomes director of education and training of the Institute of Transport as from January 1 1970. A former senior member of the staff of the Institute, Mr. Stebbings has recently been elected a member of its council and vvill serve until he takes up his new appointment. Since 1964 Mr. Stebbings has been head of the department of shipping and commercial products. City of London College, where he has established a transport option to the College's CNAA degrees in Business Studies. For many years he has represented the loT on the transport committee of the London and Home Counties Advisory Council for Higher Technological Education and on the National Committee for Road Transport Education. Until recently he was a member of the executive committee of the Transport Tutorial Association, He has also studied transport education in the USA. At the loT Mr. Stebbings succeeds J. E. G. Smith, who has been released to take up another appointment.

has been nine years in the bus industry as publicity manager for the BET bus group and deputy chief publicity officer of the NBC.

A. J. Shawe has been appointed sales manager of Lamross Transport Engineering Ltd., Glasgow, manufacturer of support gear and other equipment for semi-trailers. Mr. Shawe was formerly field sales manager of Hands Trailers Ltd.

H. R. J. Hildyard, 49, Kerry St. Johnston, 38, and P. A. Tobin, 56, executive directors of Overseas Containers Ltd.. have been promoted to take over as ;pint managing directors following the retirement this week of Maj.-Gen. G. E. Prior-Palmer, 67, managing director of OCL since its inception. In addition, A. J. Butterwick, 39. becomes director of marketing in OCL, J. M. Corbet-Singleton becomes Australian trade director: R. F. Cornwell, 32, finance director: R. B. Monteath, 54. technical director; K. Reynolds, 44, Far East trade director: R. P. M. Wormal, 42, director of operations.
