• The National Bus Company has formed a headquarters marketing unit which will have the responsibility for the general organization and co-ordination of marketing.
Initial plans are to seek licensing permission for a new countrywide runabout ticket on express coach services and excursions and for the development of package tours. Both of these would only be marketed overseas.
Although individual subsidiaries have been promoting their tours abroad, this is the first concerted move by the NBC.
The proposal is for the "coach-master" ticket to be valid for eight days at a cost of E8 (1520).
From the autumn of 1970 plans are underway to market overseas a programme of package tours designed for the particular country of origin covering prime tourist attractions in Britain. Initial target areas are America followed by Europe in 1971. Both these features are subject to normal licensing arrangements being satisfactorily concluded.
