Mr. Alan Law, the TGWU's Midlands trade group secretary, is the official handling negotiations between his union and British Road Services Ltd. which have led to an agreement to introduce scientific work study into productivity in the haulage industry.
This agreement, the first of its kind, is based on work study by John Evans and Associates and provides for a 40hour productivity bonus of £2 5s to £4. dependent on the level of improved performance from drivers and other operating staff.
A BRS spokesman said on Monday that it was hoped that the Midlands agreement would be the forerunner of others between BRS Ltd. and the unions. "Mr. Law has been very helpful in the negotiations", he added.
