HOLMES because of pressure of business. Mr. Henderson is transport officer of Ayr County Council and was formerly engineer to Greenock Motor Services, Ltd.

ALL ABOUT THE MAX

A REVISED edition of the instruction manual for the Dennis Max oil-engined chassis is now available from Dennis Bros.' Ltd., Guildford, at 7s. 6d. It covers both the four-speed and five-speed models, designated the K and 0 types, respectively. Instruction on stripping and reassembling all units and components is given in detail, with many illustrations to show method of operation and correct handling.

A section at the end of the book is devoted to diagnosis and repair of minor faults, and some hints on correct handling of the vehicle in service.

• The manual includes a section dealing with dimensions of new wearing parts, with the permitted tolerances, which would be of great value to workshop personnel.

A revised and more colourful leaflet covering the Pax 5-ton chassis is now being sent out.

HAMMOCK SEATS FOR COACHES

AT the end of last year, the Swedish Railways placed a large order for long-distance 25-seater coaches. These vehicles are equipped with ChristieTyler seats, incorporating the maker's patent hammock suspension principle. The seats are arranged in a double row on the off side and a single row on the near side. Favourable comments have been made by passengers.
