SOUTH YORKSHIRE Hazchem haulier Alan Lodge Partnership has had its 0-licence revoked after Northeastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney described it as "irresponsible and inadequate".
Alan, Christine and Gary Lodge, trading as Bamsley-based Alan Lodge Partnership, were called before the TC at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry; the firm's second inquiry in under three years.
The TC was told of 60 hours and tachograph offences including false records offences committed by seven drivers.
Undertakings given at the previous inquiry had not been kept. Revoking the licence, the TC said the firm had a tarnished reputation following the February 2003 public inquiry. Since then there had been serious breaches of the hours and tachograph law, in part driven by the firm's pay structure.
He considered the good repute of Gary Lodge, who failed to attend the public inquiry, to be forfeit:That of Alan Lodge and Christine Lodge was severely tarnished.
The firm held a licence authorising 30 vehicles and 35 trailers.
Alan Lodge has now applied for a licence to operate as a sole trader and the TC has granted him interim authority.
