as he was making off with a truck-load of electrical goods has had his nine-year jail term cut.
John Clarke, of East Ham, was jailed at Croydon Crown Court last year after he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Ian Jones and to aggravated vehicle taking and the theft of a load (CM 9 Dec 2004).
But last week Lord Justice Hooper cut Clarke's jail term to seven-and-a-half years, ruling that he and an accomplice went to a Curry's warehouse in Chingford in August 2003 intending to steal equipment when he discovered the truck with the keys in the ignition.
Hooper said: "The taking of an innocent life is very serious. But we agree that the judge passed an overall sentence that did not pay true reflection to the manslaughter."
