Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

an individual a right to the same pay and benefits as a person of the opposite sex in the same employment, where the man and woman are doing the same work or work of equal value.

An employer is not required to provide the same pay and benefits if it can prove that the difference in pay or benefits is due to a reason other than one related to gender.

Claims can be brought to an Employment Tribunal at anytime while employed and within six months of leaving. If a claim is successful the complainant will be entitled to the same level of pay or benefits as his or her opposite number for the future, and up to six years' back pay representing the difference in pay, with interest.

The government has simplified procedures for tribunals for women who have suffered discrimination.

It has also introduced a questionnaire procedure so that women can find out if they are being paid fairly in line with male colleagues.
