We have extracted the most interesting data from Transport Statistics Great Britain 2005 to give you some insight into how the industry shaped up in 2004. Further statistics not illustrated but included within the report reveal 7% of three and four-axle rigids were running more than lOmph over the speed limit on dual carriageways in 2004; this dropped to 4% for articulated vehicles in the same period. On single carriageways this figure was 35% for three and four-axle rigids, and 53% for artic,s.

On 40mph roads,16% of two, three and fouraxle HGVs and 11% of artics were found to be travelling faster than 45mph. •
