A THREATENED five-dal strike by BP tanker drivers over pensions dispute with Exel ha been postponed following last minute peace talks.

A group of 74 tanker drivers hat voted for strike action after the were transferred from Exel to BI earlier this month and lost thei, final-salary pension scheme.

The meeting Transport and Gen eral Workers Union (T&G) and BI management lasted late ink Wednesday night.

A joint statement from theT&C and BP says: "Sufficient progres! was made during these discussion! for the planned industrial action scheduled to begin on Friday 2f October, to be postponed. Furthe discussions will take place on Ries day 1 November."

A T& G spokesperson adds "Taking action is never a firs resort and we are pleased action postponed. At the same time wc are determined to get a deal tha will be best for our members."
