Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WILTSHIRE POLICE have dropped tacho falsification charges against a driver who confused miles and kilometres Dennis Yeatman had noted his distances off the dashboard odometer in miles and filled them in on the tacho chart, which recorded its trace in kilometres. When the police found inconsist encies on the chart they charged him with falsifying the charts.

When Yeatman's solicitor,Steve Wedd, realised what had happened he persuaded the police to drop the charge.

was surprised to see such a simple mistake had been made in failing to recognise the errors in transposition of the data from tacho graph to dashboard figures," he says.

Wedd adds that Yeatman had just been given a new vehicle with a modern digital tacho, but had no training in how to operate it.

Yeatman explains: "I'm not a very bright man and I couldn't even find the tacho in my new wagon. I thought the tacho recorder was the radio."
