Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Northumbria Water Group waste disposal contractor Enviricare has appeared at disciplinary proceedings before North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority John Hampton on maintenance grounds.

Hampton issued what he described as "a modest warning" and described the company as a new and enlarged venture undergoing a "running in period".

But the DLA decided not to take action against the company and granted an application to increase the licence authorisation from 14 vehicles and one trailer to 45 vehicles and 10 trailers.

For the Blaydon-based compa

ny, Clive Cook said that as a result of a merger, the fleet of NEM was incorporated in the Enviricare fleet in April, hence the need for the increased authorisation.

Vehicle examiner John Hughes said that in July he examined nine vehicles and one trailer, issuing one immediate and two delayed prohibitions plus three defect notices. He felt the major problem was a lack of an effective driver defect reporting system.

Fleet engineering manager Alan Wiepert said he was appointed in April. He said that drivers now had a daily report sheet and what was effectively a nil daily defect report system which was now working effectively. There was a contract with the Freight Transport Association for a bi-annual audit inspection of the fleet.

Director Ian Goodfellow said thue was a very strong order book and revenues had increased dramatically.

Anticipated revenue in the current year was am, with a net margin of between 22 and 26%.
