As progressive shows come around there is a gnawing feeling of worry in the minds of many of us who have been privileged to attend them.
It is unfortunate that the economic conditions of recent years have meant some established exhibitors will not be at Birmingham this year. Without seeking to question the expert assessment of those responsible, one cannot walk around the heavy sections at the NEC this year without missing Foden. Certainly, many of us would miss "The Show". Basically it is staged to sell vehicles, and while one views with scepticism the frequent claims for mass sales announced, particularly private cars, on or before opening date, it is quite obvious this is a staged exercise, and the real selling results from hard-graft during and after the show, via stand personnel and subsequently aided by distributors' staffs.
