THE P&O GROUP'S road haulage companies will spend £10m on new equipment this year. Most of the investment is in 38-tonne vehicles.
Commenting on the investment, P&O European Transport Services' managing director Geoffrey Whitehead said: "Over 50 per cent of 1984 expenditure is on new tractive units. Some 200 of these will be 38-tonne, three-axle units. These give us the ability to carry maximum legal payloads while avoiding the problem of overloading the second axle on the tractive unit"
