Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

You've got two kinds of customers. Those, like the gentleman above who know about valve bounce. And those who don't.

Thosewho knowabout it are likelyto noticewhen you haven't renewed the valve springs after a decoke. They'll probably come back and ask you why you haven't. Loudly.

But, a customer who doesn't know about valve bounce won't know when you haven't put new ones in, either. He'll merely notice a lack of "go" and rather high petrol consumption—even though you claim you've just done a decoke. And he'll probably assume that you have rotten mechanics, and not come back. Ever.

Of course, the way to make both kinds of customers happy is to sell them all new valve springs every 10,000 miles and after every decoke. It's worth it. You make a few extra bob yourself every time, too.
