FIVE YEARS AGO the parent company of Temple Press Ltd., the proprietors of this journaLtook the first step in establishing financial links with similar types of publishing enterprises overseas. This international publishing network has now grown to nine companies, publishing more than 200 trade, technical and specialist magazines in France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Sweden, Spain, the USA, the Far East and Great Britain.
Through this international network COMMERCIAL MOTOR has access to editorial bureaux and news sources from the main and provincial offices of these companies throughout the world.
A vital element in this consortium of journals, which operates collectively under the title International Business Press Associates, is the provision to advertisers throughout the world of a unique marketing facility. In electronics, mechanical handling, plastics, engineering, metals, aviation, freight management, chemical processing and other sectors of industrial activity, indigenous journals to each country co-operate in providing combined audiences of technical readers of influence and purchasing authority. An example is mechanical handling where, through 1BPA, nine journals in eight countries and in seven languages provide a combined circulation of over 100,000 copies per month.
International sales offices have already been set up in a number of important centres throughout the world, making available to the manufacturer who wishes to market his products out side his own country advertisement placing and translation facilities, together with on-the-spot information about these international journals, Another development arising from this association of publications is unique coverage in depth of exhibitions overseas and combined activities at conferences and other major meetings.
As a direct result of the formation of I B PA, the opportunities to bring to the attention of readers overseas the products and technology of the United Kingdom are greatly increased.
