MEETING was held between ti representatives of the SouthWest Passenger Transport Coordinating Committee and Cornwall County Council at County Hall, Truro, last Friday, to set up a working party on a county basis to consider difficulties and deficiencies in public passenger transport in Cornwall,

The committee aims through voluntary co-operation of public transport operators and local authorities to bring about early improvements in transport services by coordination of timetables, bus and train tickets, traffic management schemes, interchange arrangements and siting of car parks in relation to public transport facilities.

The working party, consisting of representatives of local interests, bus operators and British Railways, will report direct to the Passenger Transport Co-ordinating Committee, a member of which will be appointed as chairman. The local representatives will be nominated by the County Council and will include representatives of other local authorities and public bodies.

A report of the meeting will be submitted to the County Council. Aid. R. H. Purdie, chairman of the South West Passenger Transport Co-ordinating Committee, presided. Also present were County Aid. W. E. Miller, chairman of the County Standing Advisory Committee on Transport Services; and Mr. R. F. Smith, member of the Passenger Transport Co-ordinating Committee.
