THE Rural District Councils Association is to make representations to the Ministry of Housing about the nuisance problem caused by grit and dust blowing from lorries.
This move, recommended by its public health committee, was approved at a meeting of the Association's Council in London last week.
The committee reported a letter from Long Ashton Rural Council asking the Association to investigate the nuisance, and pointing out that the problem was overcome in local quarries by the use of water sprays. But the Council received complaints of the nuisance from lorries carrying their products.
The committee was not satisfied that Section 92 (1) (d) of the Public Health Act, 1936, was sufficient to deal with the problem.
