Mr. E L. Proctor has been appointed general sales manager of Oswald Tillotson, Ltd. He was formerly Manchester area manager.
Mr. R. A. Wells, manager of the National Benzoic Co.'s London Division, retired at the end of last month after more than 38 years' service with the company. He is succeeded by Mr. A. Moore.
Mr. P. Worledge, sales director of the friction materials subsidiary of the Cape Asbestos Co., Ltd., and Mr. E J. Parsons, sates manager (U.K.) of Small and Parkes, Ltd. acquired by Cape Asbestos last year, have been elected to the board of Small and Parkes, Ltd.
Mr. J. May has been appointed managing director of Charles Rickards (Travel), Ltd., Charles Rickards (Tours), Ltd., and Universal Sightseeing Tours, Ltd. Mr. D. F. Batson remains a director of the latter two companies and Mr. R. Walmsley (late of Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd.) is appointed general traffic manager to co-ordinate all motor-coach sales and operations.
Mr. G. McKay has been appointed a member of the management board of the Tilling Group with effect from January I in place of Mr. J. S. Gavin who is retiring. From the same date Mr. McKay will also succeed Mr. Gavin as chairman of Cumberland Motor Services, Ltd., and Mr. T. W. H. Galley will join the board. Mr. Gailey will retire from the boards of Red and White Services, Ltd., and associates and United Welsh Services, Ltd. and Mr. McKay will become chairman. Mr. Gailey will succeed Mr. Gavin as chairman of United Automobile Services, Ltd. and Durham District Services, Ltd. Mr. A. Darling, formerly sales manager of Matbro, Ltd., has been appointed sales director.
Mr. F. J. Hill has been appointed to the board of Matthews Oils, Ltd., West Bromwich.
Mr. W. Holyoak has been appointed works manager of the Dunlop tyre factory at Fort Dunlop.
Mr. G. F. Wigley, formerly with Guy Motors, Ltd., has joined the Amalgamated Roadstone Corporation, Ltd. to handle the sales of their bulk handling equipment.
Mr. Barrie Heath, managing director of the Triplex Safety Glass Company, Ltd., has been appointed a director of Triplex Holdings, Ltd., the parent company.
Mr. H. C. Baadsgaard, sales director of Nu-Swift, Ltd., has retired and resigned his directorships of the company. Mr. Frank Tompkins succeeds him as home sales director.
Corporal D. Readman, of the R.A,F., Gaydon, who won the recent Lorry Driver of the Year" competition will attend the " Men of the Year" lunch in London next Friday.
Mr. R. Wade has been appointed traffic manager of Cumberland Motor Services, Ltd., with effect from January 1 next. He succeeds Mr. J. H. Carruthers who will be retiring at the end of this year.
Mr. R. L. Bennett, previously manager, and Mr. W. J. Pegg, previously sales manager, have been appointed managing director and sales director respectively of Alloy Transport Sections, Ltd., Birmingham.
