Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LTHOUGH of recent years Willys 1-10verlaud Crossley, Ltd., has greatly increased the percentage of components, made in England, for the well-known Manchester ehassi'k, the latest product of the concern-a forward-control 2tonner-is the first model to be of wholly British manufacture.

The wheelbase is but 10 ft. 6 ins., whilst the track of the rear twin wheels measures 4 ft. 11 ins. Without exceeding the permissible overhang, a body measuring 12 ft. by 6 ft. 4 ins. can be installed, the dimension from the rear of the driver's cab to the end of the frame being 11. ft. 2 ins.

Plenty of room is available in the cab to seat two men in addition to the driver;for, the cab extends right across the vehicle, and the engine is cowIed-in to exchide fumes, etc. Otherwise the chassis is planned on orthodox lines, the frame being perfectly straight on top and made up of channel-sectioned members 7 ins, deep at the maximum.

The four-cylindered engine has a bore of 90 mra. and stroke of 130 ram., giving a total swept volume of 3,308 c.c. Overhead valves operated by push rods and rockers from a camshaft contained its the crankcase emerge into a cylindrical combustion chamber, which is machined all over to ensure uniformity of compression ratio.

" Duralumin connecting rods and castiron pistons, although light in weight, have bearing surfaces sufficiently large to keep the working pressures low. Both the crankshaft and camshaft have three bearings, each of which is fed from the high-presSure oiling system.

The auxiliaries are driven by spiral gearing, the camshaft receiving its motion in the usual way by spiral-spur pinions. A cross-shaft at the front of the engine provides the rotating medium for the water pump on the off side and the magneto on the near side of the unit.

On the near side are also the inlet and exhaust systems, the mixture being supplied to the cylinders via a Zenith carburetter and a vertical inlet pipe which connects to passages cored in the cylinder-head casting.

A single-plate clutch of normal design' is mounted unitwise with a four-speed gearbox, in which the following ratios are provided when coupled with a rearaxle reduction of 6.125 to 1 :-32.28, 15.92, 10.41 and 6.125 to 1.

Four-wheel brakes are an up-to-date feature for this class of vehicle.
