Dealing .first with the 2-ton parCels van Construeted for Carter, Paterson and Co., tad., one of the principal paints is the easy access to the interior of the 'body, enabling one man to carry out delivery ;York. There is Ii large opening in the driver's compartment from which loading or unloading can be carried out, if this method be preferred to the usual rear loading. The top of the body is fixed and the tilt is so finished that posters can be pasted on for advertising purposes if desired.
• Single solid rubber tyres are fitted in front and twins on the rear wheels. The front axle is tubular, as is that at the rear. „ Drive from the motor is takea through a reduction gear to cross-shafts, thence D12 by double chains to the rear wheels. Mounted on brake drums on the sprocket shafts are external-contracting _brake bands. The speed control is operatedlay the driver's right hand.
Carried across the frame, as in the case of the other vehialca, are the batteries and wing nuts provide the fastening mechanism for the sides of the battery containers. '
The next size larger is a 31-ton chassis fitted with an end-tipping body Operated by Edwards hydraulic mechanism. This vehicle is constructed for the use of brewers in the case of the Exhibition model, and the tipping angle is high. The driver's cab is partially enclosed, only the space above the doors being left open. Brakes are fitted in both rear wheels and on the drums on the spracket shafts, the transmission system being designed on similar lines to that of the 24onner, but, of course, suit ably strengthened. • Mounted on a 5-ton chassis is an open lorry body with shallow sides, also fitted with a semi-enclosed cab.
The 2-4-ton electric road tractor is also on view, in conjunction with a special Dyson' two-wheel trailer • for rAuse collection. The body is lined with' sheet metal throughout and the loading line is approximately two feet. '
Additional exhibits are,the Baker ton industrial truck with two-wheeldrive and four-wheel. steering. -The platform can be lifted to the extent of 72 ins. and has an automatic limit stop at Anal end of the travel.
