0 verseas traders, traditionally keen for cash purchases at auction, are now signing up to Fleet Auction Group's trading requirements to bid for stock.
Commercial sales director Mike Gray says foreign buyers wanting to pay cash had previously been turned away, in line with the group's trade-business-only policy.-Now they can bid, as long as they comply with our requirements to provide bank account details, VATregistration and trade references beforehand," he explains.-And they're keen, because of the quality of stock FLAG is attracting."
There is a lack of quality trucks, he adds:a 2004-registered Daf C1F85.380 6x2 rigid with Space Cab and 28ft curtainsider body defied price predictions and went for 75% of its original new retail price, highlighting the competition for good stock.
Not isolated
It was not an isolated incident," Gray reports. "The vehicle was clean and required little attention other than a valet before sale. After all, when a truck is your living space for a good part of the week, you want quality and you look after it, which was clearly reflected in the residual value."
Daf Trucks marketing director Tony Pain says the price reflects the low depreciation, low running costs and desirability of Daf at the top end of the market. •
