SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has put the first of its Modec electric trucks into service.
Modec started volume production in March: having signed up a number of other operators including couriers and highways maintenance firms,it had a busy time at the CV Show.
Modec marketing and sales co-ordinator Catherine Hutt says: "Orders are coming in from all directions and we're seeing a lot of interest. We are keen to prove ourselves in the 5.5-tonne sector and will be adding to our range with a 10-seater minibus in 2008."
Each Tesco vehicle is expected to cut CO, emissions by 21 tonnes a year compared with a diesel-the equivalent of travelling 51,000 miles in a light van,
