IVECO BELIEVES that within five years CVs will be equipped with 'predictive diagnostics' equipment that will reduce the amount of time the vehicles spend off the road.
Thanks to technology that is already used in Formula 1 motor racing, major components within a CV will flag up any problems before they fail.
Nigel Emms, director of brand and communication at Iveco, says that this, coupled with overnight servicing, could mean operators no longer lose running time when vehicles develop faults.
"I don't think predictive diagnostics would be available on all parts, but certainly on the major drive components." Emms concludes.
