• The team producing the Department of Transport's vehicle maintenance Code of Practice for hauliers was held yesterday (2 May) to finalise the code ready for publication this summer.
The DTp's Vehicle Inspectorate, in conjunction with the Road Haulage Association, Freight Transport Association and the Bus and Coach Council, have designed the guide to meet the requirements of the 0-licensing authorities.
It contains guidelines on the legal requirements of roadworthy maintenance, but does not cover routine servicing or work that affects reliability and economy.
