COVER YOUR LEGAL COSTS • DAS, which specialises in insuring against legal expenses, has developed the Hauliers Legal Protection Policy to ease the concerns of hauliers going into the European market for the first time.
It is designed to cope with the EC's diverse legal systems and will provide up to 200,000 in legal expenses for any single claim.
Cover can just be taken for the UK, but relevant extensions into Europe include legal defence, which incorporates the cost of defending the policyholder in court and provides bail to release a driver or vehicles, and contract cover. It can also help recover a bad debt or uninsured losses.
