• In authorising Bowie and Aram to move the operating centre of its one vehicle from Paisley to Renfrew, despite representations from 33 neighbouring residents, Scottish Licensing Authority Keith Waterworth made it dear that road safety is not an environmental matter upon which representations can be made.
The company had sought authority to operate from Glen House, Wright Street, Renfrew, which is adjacent to a mill owned by BOCM. The residents' main complaint was about the road safety problems caused by CVs using Wright Street, a residential cul-de-sac leading to a busy industrial estate. Waterworth said there was nothing wrong with the access and egress.
