• Peter Grimes, engineering director of Luton & District Transport, has been ousted from the company after shareholders decided not to re-elect him. They also decided not to confirm the appointment of Brian Green as finance director. Managing director Graham Cumming, who was re-elected, said that the decisions taken by the shareholders probably resulted from a difference of opinion over management style.
"However," says Cumming, "we must never forget the fact that we are part of an employee-owned company, in which every shareholding member of the workforce has an equal say in the way in which the company is managed and operated."
