• The importance of the construction market to truck and trailer manufacturers was highlighted at the Site Equipment Demonstration '90 show held at Whipsnade.
AWD chose the event to display its mTm-55 Multidrive 8x6 articulated tipper together with the 38-tonne TM 40 6x4 rigid. Both vehicles are Caterpillar-powered, and will be backed up on servicing and parts by selected Caterpillar dealers around Britain.
Leyland Dafs new Dafpowered Constructor featured prominently at the show, with NCK displaying the vehicle fitted with two versions of its TM 600 truck mixer body — one with PTO drive to the 6m' drum, and one with separate engine drive.
Marubeni-Kornatsu chose Leyland Dafs Roadrunner 10.15 chassis as the base for its latest Tadano seven-tonne capacity crane, which has a 21m boom.
King Trailers introduced two new low tri-axle trailer bed units. One, destined for the UK market, has a detachable single axle for operation under the new Special Types 18m length regulations. The other new trailer has been developed for Continental work and is fitted with fully equalising air suspension and offers a payload of up to 48 tonnes under STGO Cat II operation.
