• Ford has denied suggestions that Escort van production has ceased, in preparation for the expected autumn launch of the new Escort. "Production will continue until the August shutdown", a spokesman says.
Production of the new model is due when work resumes after the summer break. Output is currently running at about 270 vans per day and Ford plans to produce the new model at or above that level.
