Last week's conference of the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association at Gleneagles lived up to its reputation for being the most enjoyable of the passenger conferences. It is openly admitted to be a largely social affair, with only two hours or so of formal discussion to interrupt four days of golf on the magnificent courses.
However the Association has been "speaking with one voice" for Scottish operators for some time. The need for all British operators to do so is now finding substance in the formation of a Confederation and it is perhaps not surprising that the SRPTA has given the new body its blessing: Even more typical is the news that, as well as retaining a separate identity for Scottish operators, the SR PTA is determined to continue its Gleneagles conference. Confederation boss Denis Quin might do well to consider a lavish conference for that organization. How about a fortnight in the Bahamas?
