It's highly appropriate that Fodens, in conjunction with some other companies in the motor industry, are sponsoring a car in the World Cup Rally which starts at Wembley on May 5 and ends in Munich after a double crossing of the Sahara (work that one out!); after all, it fits the long-haul image of the company. Mind you, such sponsorship is not to be entered into lightly. The total bill for Fodens and co-sponsors will be around £10,000, which includes £5,000 just for preparing the alreadypurchased car, and 26 light-alloy wheels at £28 each (the tyres being free from Dunlop).
The Army is allowing "adventure training" volunteers to use 11 of its Land-Rovers as service vehicles, suitably de-militarized, privately registered and painted yellow. And each Army volunteer team will have to chip in £500 — an expensive holiday.
