BY CHANGING his 11.18tonne (11-ton)-gross skipper for a Seddon 16.26-tonne (16-ton)-gross unit, a scrap processor is able to carry nearly 3.56 tonnes (3.5 tons) extra payload.
Using the same 6.1 cu m (8 cu yd) skips as with the old vehicle, the firm, E. S. Honey Ltd, of Hyde, Cheshire, can fully load the skips. Before, they often had to be part-empty through gross-weight restrictions. The Perkins-engined Seddon 13: Four with Telehoist lifting gear was supplied by Hills (Piccadilly) Ltd, Manchester.
