TO replace American petrol-engined vehicles, 18 Albion Clydesdale oilers have been ordered by the Vicicongo organization, who operate under arduous conditions in the Belgian Congo. The vehicles will have Leyland 0.350 engines of the type fitted to the Leyland Cornets already in service and stated to he saving 4.15d. a mile in fuel costs cornpared with the American vehicles, which also carry two tons less.
Bodywork will be built in the Belgian Congo. Vicicongo have installed more than 60 Leyland 0.600 engines in American chassis originally equipped with petrol engines.
