ties would draw the attention of the Minister of Transport to cases of this sort with a view to obtaining powers to impose costs, Mr. G. H. P. Beames told Mr. J. R. Lindsay, North Western Deputy • Licensing Authority, at Liver• pool on Tuesday.
Mr. E. A. Whitehead, on instructions from the Road • Haulage Association, had applied to withdraw an application by Mr. W. :T. Smith, Liverpool, to add to the conditions of four B-licence vehicles, "Goods for United Carriers, Ltd., within 200 miles of Liverpool abbatoirs."
After Mr. Lindsay had read a letter from United Carriers which said that they had never been consulted by the applicants and would not have supported their case if they had, Mr. Beames, for the British Transport Commission, pointed out that a great deal of time had been involved in the preparation of the case.
Mr. Lindsay described it as a frivolous application and, in view of the letter from United Carriers. the Authority would write to Mr. Smith
