VIEMBERS of the express carriers' al group of the Road Haulage Association met at the National Liberal Club, London, yesterday for the first of about four meetings at which aspects of the parcels carrier's work will be discussed. They are using as a basis the paper read by Mr. R. L. H. Farmer, the new chairman of the group, to the Institute of Transport in January (The Commercial Motor, January 18).
Mi. Farmer's paper has been divided into the following nine sections:—(l) Depot layout; (2) handling methods: (3) documentation; (4) automation; (5) vehicle management and labour; (6) costs; (7) charges; (8) competition; (9) interworking.
It is hoped that members will be able to watch demonstrations by specialists of machines to improve traffic handling and documentation.
