Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Nestle Group Distribution says it will cut warehouse staff later this year when it opens a LlOm centralised grocery distribution centre to replace "some" of its 12 ambient goods depots.

However, the company says the jobs of drivers currently working out of existing depots will be unaffected by the move and it will keep its current 50/50 split between in-house and third-party operators.

Nestle, one of the three biggest food manufacturers in the UK, says it will trunk all its ambient goods like Nescafe, Branston Pickle, Crosse & Blackwell soups, Friskies pet foods and Ashbourne Water from factories to RDCs via the new depot.

A spokesman for the company says only smaller depots operated by the company will be closed.

The new centralised warehouse is being built off the M1 at Bardon, near Coalville, Leics. It will be served by 300 trucks a day and can hold up to 60,000 pallets over 37,000m2.

Nestle refuses to comment on the scale of the job cuts: it is in negotiation with the Transport 8-,_ General Workers Union about the number of redundancies.
