Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford Truck is now offering its 13-tonne Cargo road sweeper chassis with the option of an eight-speed rangechange gearbox, with a deeper first gear ratio for improved "crawlability".

The 1311 and 1313 sweeper chassis, sold through Iveco Ford's Special Vehicle Operations section, were previously only sold with the Ford 6540 wide-ratio six-speed box with a 9.19:1 first gear and 6.43:1 rear axle. Now, however, both can be specified with the optional Ford 8570 rangechange transmission with a 10.71:1 first gear and a 5.29:1 back axle.

According to Harry Chambers, Iveco Ford's bus and municipal vehicles fleet sales manager, the latest eight-speed box not only provides extra low speeds for sweeping operations, but combined with the faster rear axle, also allows higher speeds for normal running between jobs.

The eight-speed box, which has a conventional H-pattern, adds an extra 2467 ex-VAT to the Cargo road sweeper chassis price. o Iveco Ford's application engineering section has also developed a front-mounted power take-off for the Curnmins L-10 engine, designed specifically for gritting applications.

Versions of the low-speed Iveco Ford PT-0 have already been fitted to two Cargo 2424 chassis supplied to Warwickshire County Council. If the option proves popular, Iveco Ford may supply it through its SVO division.
