Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seddon Atkinson is now offering a sleeper cab and a long-wheelbase version of its 2-11 range of four-wheel rigid 17-tonners.

The factory-built sleeper cab features a single bunk with storage space beneath it and a roof hatch. The 2-11 cab is trimmed to the same standard as the 3-11 and 4-11 cabs.

To accommodate the popular 7.31m body size behind the sleeper cab, an additional 6.25m wheelbase is available, which also allows Seddon to offer a day cab with an 8.23m body. Four wheelbases between 3.8 and 5.64m are still available.

The sleeper cab option costs 21,200, and adds 130kg to the 2-11's kerb weight, while the extended wheelbase costs another 2100, with a 50kg weight penalty.

Other changes to the 2-11 range include the introduction of an Eaton 18120 single reduction axle with the standard 5.57:1 final drive. With the Perkins 180Ti Phaser engine, this gives a 112km/h top speed. The optional 6.14:1 differential is slower, but gives a better 34% gradeability, says Seddon.

The 18120 is rated at 10,500kg on 11R 22.5 tyres, while Seddon Atkinson's forged 1-section front axle has a 6,610kg rating on 12R 22.5s. Girling fixed-cam sliding-shoe brakes replace S-A's own Scam design all round.
