AT Belfast Summons Court, last Tuesday, judgment was given against the Northern Ireland Road Transport Board in a matter of importance concerning the payment of compensation and the right to carry without a licence. The case was one which came before Mr. W. F. McCoy, in which the Transport Board summoned Mr. Albert Benson, Moira, Co. Down, for using a lorry for hire or reward without the consent in writing

u20 of the Board and the approval of the Ministry, of Home Affairs. It was stated that the Board had refused to acquire Mr. Benson's road-transport undertaking on the ground that the service bad not been in operation before June 1, 1924.

In delivering his decision and dismissing the summons with £8 8s. costs against the Board, the resident magistrate maintained that the deprivation of Mr. Benson's property without compensation was in contravention of the restrictions imposed by the Government of Ireland Act, 1920.
