• A stolen Ford Transit curtainsider with a hazardous load which could kill if mishandled has been found "neatly parked up" in North London, according to its owner Caudles of Sheffield (CM27 May2 June).
Hants hunt
• Police are hunting thieves believed to be responsible for stealing four trucks from Derek Miller Haulage and Nestle Group Distribution— both are based on an industrial estate at Eastleigh, Hampshire.
Transbulk plea
• Transbulk Transport Services of Dunstable is to lodge an appeal against the revocation of its 0-licence (CM 20-26 May). It was revoked following a series of prohibition notices and a 100% annual test failure.
New route
• Meridian Shipping is to launch a ferry service between Folkestone and Boulogne on 20 June. The new service will have capacity for 50 trailers and drivers on its three round trips per day, six days a week.
Small shoots
• UK manufacturing activity is up for the fourth month in a row, say latest figures. Employment levels have also increased and new orders are up for the seventh month, says the Institute of Purchasing & Supply.

• The southbound Blackwall Tunnel will be closed every weekend this month between 22:00 hours on Saturday and 06:00 hours on Sunday. Drivers of trucks over 16.5 tonnes will be diverted to the Dartford crossing.
