• The prospects fur Royal Mail and Parcelforce privatisation appear to be diminishing following the loss of a key Department of Trade and Industry Minister and vociferous warnings against the move from Tory MPs.
Edward Leigh, dubbed a "100% backer of privatisation", was a victim of last week's Cabinet reshuffle, leaving rhe post of Under Secretary at the DTi to Patrick McCloughlin.
McCloughlin is seen as less likely to push privatisation or deregulation of the postal market.
